Explore New Learning with the Family
The Family Learning Festival is a national celebration to mark and inspire a love of learning in family life. It takes place in October every year. It is co-ordinated by the Campaign for Learning, the organisation that aims to build a culture of learning everywhere.
Wandsworth Council Lifelong learning is offering a series of Family Learning workshops, some involving parents and children, with others just for adults only. The activities will start during October half-term and continue into November. Highlights include courses offered in partnership with Wandsworth City Learning Centre and include:- Let’s Explore Coding, Family Film Making, Family Photography and Family Podcast. Other courses include:- Introduction to Sign Language, Family First Aid and Parents Towards Employment. A focus on English and maths includes: – Keeping Up with the Children Maths, Keeping up with the children English and Family ESOL.
The programme supports Wandsworth’s recovery plans through offering opportunities that are inclusive, designed to promote the idea of learning as a family, which can help us become confident, lifelong learners with all the benefits that brings – from better health to being happier. Family learning supports children to achieve at school. It can be transformative, helping us to find new passions and interests, and realise our aspirations through further learning.
