This non-accredited course, can be an excellent foundation for our Level 3 qualification.

Understanding Autism Level 3 Certificate
Understanding autism necessitates specialised instruction that covers the aspects of care and support. This Level 3 programme is designed to provide participants with the advanced knowledge and practical skills to support individuals with autism effectively.
By enrolling in this course, you will gain a robust understanding of autism’s frameworks, current legislative guidelines, and practical support measures. It will equip participants with the capability to encourage positive changes and provide care and support to individuals with autism.
The objectives of this programme include:
- How to adopt a positive approach to supporting individuals with autism.
- The current legislative framework relating to individuals with autism and how different theories have developed over time.
- How to support and manage transitions for individuals with autism.
- The range of therapeutic interventions and support available for individuals with autism and co-occurring conditions.
- How to support communication and social interaction for individuals with autism.
- How to develop an understanding of how individuals with autism may be vulnerable and the support worker’s role and responsibilities relating to safeguarding according to legislative requirements.

You are already working in a role related to this subject and aiming to progress into further study and/or relevant employment.

What You Need to Know
The programme includes an introductory session to find out more about what the course entails. You must attend the introduction before enrolling for the full course.
This course will be delivered online, and learners will also be set monthly coursework to complete as well as attending monthly workshops.
Prior to enrolment you will need to undertake an initial assessment in English and achieve a minimum L1 result.
Please note funding is available subject to eligibility. If you are not eligible for funding, there is a fee paying option of £650.
Qualification upon completion: Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism.

To attend this course and complete the coursework, you need access to a good internet connection and a laptop, computer or tablet device. If you do not have a suitable device, please speak to an IAG advisor or your tutor about the Laptop Loan Scheme.
Eligibility Requirements
To enrol for this course, you must:
- Be aged 19+
- Live in London.
- Have not already achieved a L3 or above qualification. Please note if you earn under £27,007.50 you are eligible for funding even if you already have a L3 or above qualification.
- Be working within a suitable role.
Understanding Neurodiversity in the Workplace
This introductory session offers a thoughtful exploration of neurodiversity and its relevance in today’s working environments. You’ll gain insight into common neurodiverse conditions and challenge some of the misconceptions that often surround them. The course also examines the barriers neurodiverse individuals may face at work and introduces practical strategies for creating more inclusive and supportive workplaces. Whether you’re an employer, colleague, or simply curious to learn more, this session will help you build awareness and foster a more inclusive mindset.
