Develop your reading skills: Health and Wellbeing
Boost your reading skills while exploring practical, real‑life health and wellbeing topics that matter to our everyday lives. We will be: skimming health articles to find the main message fast, scanning wellbeing leaflets for key details, understanding vocabulary in context, inferring meaning and read between the lines in blogs, adverts and guidance, following instructions in recipes and online booking systems, and spotting the purpose, audience and tone of a text, including persuasive or misleading information. Expect practical tasks, real‑life scenarios, and plenty of confidence‑building discussion within a friendly and supportive group.
Customer Service Skills in an office environment
This short course will explore the fundamentals of customer service, highlighting its significance in today’s business environment. Learners will learn the importance of active listening and how to accurately understand customers’ needs. The course will also address strategies for effective organisation and time management, alongside techniques for maintaining control and professionalism in challenging situations.
Early writing with the Under 5s
Nurture confident early writers with this practical class for parents and those looking to work or volunteer with the under 5s. Discover how mark making, movement, and play build the foundations for writing in the early years, and leave with lots of ready to use ideas.
English Conversation – ‘A Summer of Sport in London’
Explore the sights, flavours, and celebrations of British springtime in a friendly communication class. Discover the traditions behind seasonal foods, events, and activities while building confidence in everyday English. A friendly, supportive class to learn, practise, and enjoy British culture together.
Essential Office Skills for Administrators
This short course is designed to equip those that wish to be/are administrators with essential skills across a range of key topics. Learners will gain an understanding of various business structures and their purposes, develop practical administrative and customer service abilities, and learn the importance of maintaining professional behaviour and conduct in the workplace. Additionally, the course addresses environmental sustainability and the correct procedures for health and safety within an office environment, ensuring a well-rounded foundation for effective administrative practice.
Introduction to being an entrepreneur
This short course provides an introduction to entrepreneurship, guiding learners through the essential components needed for success in starting and running a business. Learners will explore a variety of business models to understand different approaches to enterprise, learn effective marketing strategies to promote their ventures, and gain valuable insights into managing finances responsibly. The programme also emphasises the importance of cultivating a resilient entrepreneurial mindset, offering practical advice on coping with setbacks and maintaining motivation.
Introduction to Legal Studies
This short course offers learners a fundamental insight into how legal systems operate, exploring individual rights and responsibilities as well as the impact of laws on everyday life and business. You will be introduced to the purpose of law in society, distinguish between criminal and civil law, and learn about the various sources of law. The course will also cover administrative law and provide an overview of the structure of the court system, making it an ideal starting point for those considering further studies in the legal field.
Introduction to starting an online business
On this short course, learners will discover the essentials of launching an online business, from selecting a viable business idea to identifying and understanding their target market. The course covers key online business models, introduces the fundamentals of digital marketing, and highlights the importance of excellent customer service and building a strong reputation in the digital marketplace.
Online safety for parents and carers of children at Primary School
Gain the confidence to guide your child safely online with this practical introduction to online safety. Learn how to spot risks, set up simple protections, and support positive digital habits at home. A calm, jargon‑free course designed to empower every parent and grandparent.
Basic Digital Skills (Word, PowerPoint)
The Basic Digital Skills course will introduce learners to Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. The focus will be on creating, editing, and formatting documents and presentations. The course will cover formatting text in Word and Powerpoint, inserting images and tables, as well as how to apply design themes and transitions. The course will also provide tips for organising content, saving or sharing work securely, and using AI. The course will help learners gain confidence with everyday digital tools.
Basic PowerPoint
The Basic PowerPoint short course is designed to introduce learners to the fundamental features of Microsoft PowerPoint. Participants will explore how to create and edit slides, incorporate images, videos and tables, and make use of design themes and transitions to enhance presentations. The course will also provide practical guidance for organising content, collaborating with others on projects, and securely saving or sharing their work, and the use of AI. The course will help learners gain confidence in using PowerPoint effectively, for themselves or at work.

This course is free for those who meet all the following funding requirements:
- you live in a London /Greater London Borough*
- you are not in full time education
- you have not achieved this qualification before
- you are aged 19 or older on 31st August 2025
- have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months and the VISA is valid for the duration of the course.
If you don’t have permission to live in the UK for 12 months there are exemptions which can be discussed with the IAG advisor who will contact you.
*There are occasions when funding is available for learners who don’t live in a London borough. Email edlifelong@richmondandwandsworth.gov.uk to find out if this applies to you.
