Volunteering is a rewarding role and enables people to give something back to the community, while sharing their knowledge, skills and time. As well as having a positive impact on your community, volunteering can also bring meaning and purpose to your life, while increasing your self-esteem and wellbeing.
If you are ready to take a step into volunteering or if you’re already in a volunteer’s role, the short introductory course and accredited Level 1 course will help you to explore the world of volunteering, what it entails and how to maximise your impact in the sector.
Introduction to Volunteering
This short introduction is for people who are considering enrolling for the full Level 1 accredited course. It will give an overview of what the accredited course will cover including course content and the input required from the learner to achieve the L1 accreditation.

Volunteering Level 1
This course will provide you with an insight into the role and an awareness of the personal standards required. It is also suitable for those who are already in a volunteering role and will enhance both your knowledge and skills of the sector.

This course is free for those who meet all the following funding requirements:
- you live in a London /Greater London Borough*
- you are not in full time education
- you have not achieved this qualification before
- you are aged 19 or older on 31st August 2023
- have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months and the VISA is valid for the duration of the course.
If you don’t have permission to live in the UK for 12 months there are exemptions which can be discussed with the IAG advisor who will contact you.
