Level 1
Understanding mental health and wellbeing has never been more important and this course aims to help you with your personal mental health growth and also how you may be able to support others. You will gain a deeper understanding of your own mental health and how to manage it effectively.
It is ideal for learners preparing to enter employment or already in employment and who wish to develop their knowledge of mental health, either for progression to a qualification in another subject, or simply for personal growth and understanding.
Topics include:
- Understanding what is meant by mental health and mental ill-health
- Understand how to take care of your own mental health and wellbeing
- Providing support to family and friends for their mental health and wellbeing
- Sources of support for mental health and wellbeing
Qualification on Successful Completion: Level 1 Award in Introduction to Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Level 2
You must successfully complete the L1 course to be able to join the L2 course.
Building on skills and knowledge learned in the Level 1 course, this short course covers:
- Mental health and wellbeing
- The effects of mental health
- The mental health continuum
- Self-managing wellbeing
Qualification on Successful Completion: Level 2 Award in Introduction to Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Mental Health Awareness L2 Certificate
This qualification aims to focus on the study of mental health and a range of mental health problems, offering a comprehensive understanding and knowledge base. The topics covered in this course include anxiety, depression, postnatal depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, dementia, eating disorders, ADHD, OCD and PTSD.
Qualification on successful completion: Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems

N.B Prior to enrolment for the above courses, you will need to undertake an initial assessment in English. This assessment is set by an administrator and completed remotely before the courses start.

These courses are free for those who meet all the following funding requirements:
– you live in a London /Greater London Borough*
– you are not in full time education
– you have not achieved this qualification before
– you are aged 19 or older on 31st August 2023
-Have permission to live in the UK for at least 12 months from the first day of learning
If you don’t have permission to live in the UK for 12 months from the first day of learning there are exemptions which can be discussed with the IAG advisor that will contact you.
