In Wandsworth, we work together to make sure employers get a one simple point of contact to access apprentices of all ages, young adults looking for traineeships and with most schools looking for work experience opportunities – keeping things straightforward for you.
Employ an apprentice – meaning they work for you full-time and they get assessed on the job, instead of needing lots of time off to attend college. Apprenticeships are for anyone aged over 16.
Takes between 1-2 years to complete. Some are the equivalent of a degree and can be either on a full or part-time basis.
Employers need to cover the minimum apprenticeship wage of £3.50 per hour, although many employers choose to pay more. There is assistance and incentives for larger employers via the Apprenticeship Levy (see link below for more details).
There are apprenticeships in Advanced Management, Business Administration, Customer Service, Health & Social Care, Teaching Assistant, Team Leading and Fire, Emergency and Security Systems.

Run over 9 consecutive weeks. The trainee will be based in your business on a full-time basis.

Who are the trainees?
Traineeships are focused on people aged 16-24 years old who for various reasons are currently unemployed (or working less than 16 hours per week); and who haven’t been qualified over GCSE level or equivalent. We all know there are various reasons why younger job seekers are struggling to find work and many of our employers are play a vital role in getting them back on track.
Gaining work experience opens up career choices, can be detailed on a CV and could be paramount to success later in life. We work with schools across Wandsworth to make the process of giving teenagers work experience simple for employers.
Work experience placements are typically 1-2 weeks long.
Employers of all sizes and all sectors can host work experience placements. We will work with you as an employer to make sure the job roles are appropriate and to ensure the match of pupils fits what you are looking for.
