Supporting care experienced young people to achieve their career potential through education, employment & training
Do you want guidance and support to help you realise your future goals, whether that be further education, employment, or both?
If you are a care experienced young person aged 17-25 who is currently unemployed, our Trailblazer programme is available to assist you on your chosen career path and to enable you to realise your Full Potential.
The programme offers:
- 1 to 1 careers guidance and mentoring support, enabling you to agree the plan of action that is right for you. This includes deciding on the right education and training courses for you.
- Internships paid at London Living Wage. You get the chance to work within an organisation in a fully funded placement lasting from 6 to 26 weeks. All positions require an interview with the employer.
- Work Experience tasters – have a go at sectors you are interested in to build up your confidence and skills. This might lead to employment and/or further study.
- Support with English and maths, tailored to your needs, which are essential for progression to further study and/or employment.
- Positive mental health and well-being – individual well-being action plans to support your needs to help you progress towards your goals.
- Career Coach advice – guiding you to get application-ready with support in areas such as thinking about job roles, CV writing, job applications and preparing for interviews.
And much more…
We are also developing enrichment and other wider opportunities, including fitness, cooking skills, nutrition and using technology.
Additional support
We understand that preparing for work and/or study requires additional resources.
Grants will be available to support you to get work-ready and this could include funding for interview clothes, travel and much more!
As an added incentive, all participants will receive a £50 Love to Shop voucher upon starting the programme and an additional £50 voucher if you successfully achieve you action plan.
Full Potential is a time limited programme, and we are working hard to secure the best possible support for care experienced young people in Wandsworth. This support may serve as either a short-term aid to help you transition to planned future activities or a long-term assistance programme.
Speak to your PA, Virtual School Advisory Teacher or EET Worker about registering your interest and to find out if this programme is right for you.
