Preparing for a Functional Skills Course

Have you ever felt that you could improve your communication skills in English or wished you knew more about multiplication and division? Is your CV lacking an edge to get you over the line for that new job or you don’t feel quite ready for further education?

You’re not alone and many adults undertake a Functional Skills course to increase their confidence and skills both personally and professionally. A recent Government analysis of adult English and maths reported learners’ improved ability to do their jobs, opening a route into further education and an increased interest in learning within families.

Nevertheless, the thought of joining a full 12 week Functional Skills programme can seem overwhelming and Wandsworth Council Lifelong Learning has designed a series of short courses for people who want to know more about what an English or maths Functional Skills qualification involves before committing. You don’t have to attend a preparation course to enrol for the full programme, but it will help you to know what to expect.

These courses aren’t just a route into an accredited qualification. If you simply want to brush-up on the skills you thought you’d forgotten, this is an excellent way to get back up to speed in a short time.

The courses run on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of August 2023 and there’s more information on content and dates and times on our website here: Preparation for Functional Skills.

Or you can register here and one of our advisors will contact you in due course: Register Here.

There’s nothing to lose and everything to gain so whether it’s helping the children with their homework or increasing your confidence when applying for jobs, a Functional Skills qualification in English or maths will open up a world of possibilities and can really make a difference.
