With the impact of Covid resulting in many employees working in different ways and facing a constantly changing and volatile landscape, the demand for Coaching skills has never been higher.
Coaching is about empowering and enabling others to reach their potential by supporting them as they consider and explore ideas and issues. It encourages individuals to be self-aware and builds confidence as they make decisions about progress, potential problems and change for themselves. It is not about being directive, rather effective coaching is geared towards high motivation, improving results, promoting growth and focusing commitment.
The intent of this apprenticeship is to increase skills, knowledge and behaviour so that the coach is:
• Asking the right questions
• Listening actively
• Challenging appropriately
• Adept at encouraging and supporting individuals
As with all apprenticeship programmes there is a need for candidates to spend 20% of their time completing off the job learning activities. The duration of the programme is 14 months, it will involve practical and theoretical activities so you must be in a role that enables you to coach others. All apprentices will need to complete Functional Skills English and maths if they do not already have GCSE/O Level at grade C or above.
There will be:
– Monthly workshops (a mixture of face to face and online sessions)
– 121 Skills Coach visits to undertake assessment activities
– E-Learning Portal to access a range of resources
