Introduction to Maths

This short course aims to help adults gain confidence in their maths skills. It will give a good insight into what is involved in our 12-week Functional Skills Maths course that lead to a nationally recognised qualification.

There will be 2 x 1 hour online lesson with a Functional Skills specialist which will cover the following:
• working with fractions
• decimal places
• percentages and ratios

This is an ideal course if you are exploring options to develop your maths skills

Introduction to Maths (Ascentis Stepping Stone)

This course is suitable for learners who wish to improve all aspects of their Maths skills. This non-accredited Maths course is aimed at adults and young people who wish to progress on to an Ascentis Stepping Stones accredited Maths qualification.

There will be 2 x 2.5 hour online lessons per week for 12 weeks which will cover the following:
• Gain underpinning mathematical skills
• Bridge the gap in their mathematical knowledge
• Progress onto Ascentis Stepping Stones Awards in Mathematical Skills
• Further develop the skills required to in the world of work or work-based learning

This is an ideal course if you are exploring options to develop your maths skills

Starts 5th January 2021 – 30th March 2021

This short course aims to help adults gain confidence in their Reading and Writing skills. It will give a good insight into what is involved in our 12-week Functional Skills English course that can then lead to a nationally recognised qualification.

There will be 2 x 1 hour online lesson with a Functional Skills specialist which will cover the following:
• Speaking, Listening and Communication – how to effectively take part in discussions and exchanges
• Reading – read and understand a range of straightforward texts.
• Writing – write a range of texts to communicate information

This is an ideal course if you are exploring options to develop your English skills.

9th and 16th December

This course is suitable for native speakers or high level ESOL learners who wish to improve all aspects of their English speaking skills. This non-accredited English course is aimed at adults and young people who wish to progress on to an Ascentis Stepping Stones accredited English qualification.

There will be 2 x 2.5 hour online lessons per week for 12 weeks and will cover the following:
• Gain underpinning grammar, punctuation and spelling skills
• Develop their reading and/or writing skills
• Improve their communication skills in speaking, receiving and responding to information
• Progress onto the Ascentis Entry Awards in English
• Develop the skills required to move into the world of work or work-based learning

This is an ideal course if you are exploring options to develop your English skills.

Starts 4th January 2021 – 31st March 2021
