Simply The Best

Simply the BEST (Business and Education Succeeding Together)!

After 21 years of loyal and dedicated service we will soon be bidding farewell to Tuula Ball who will be retiring at the end of March.

Tuula has been a central and essential part of the BEST team. Her calm and and thoughtful approach to work experience has facilitated highly effective relationships with young people and employers.

We will be hosting an event at the end of March to celebrate Tuula’s time with BEST and inviting colleagues and employers (past and present) to join us.

This will take place on Tuesday 26th March between 4-6pm at St Boniface Church Hall, 185 Mitcham Road, Tooting, London SW17 9PG. In order that we can cater for appropriate numbers could you please register on the following link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/simply-the-best-business-and-education-succeeding-together-tickets-57084107101

If you think the world of work experience is for you we have just started the process of recruiting a replacement for Tuula and details of the post can be accessed via the Council’s website. For an informal discussion about the post please contact Santino Fragola on 07767 256832

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the work of the Council’s Education and Business partnership.  The EBP is known as Wandsworth BEST (Business and Education Succeeding Together) and annually provides work experience for over 1,500 young people.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are committed to the value of work experience and enjoy working with employers from all sectors.

You will work with the Head of Lifelong Learning and the BEST Board on devising and implementing the strategy for work related learning and enterprise.  The role involves designing and managing the delivery of the work experience and education business links programme and ensuring that the operational, health and safety and quality standards are maintained and implemented.

Additionally, you will be expected to support a number of careers and work related programmes funded through the European Social Fund and participation in the Council’s apprenticeship offer.

You will need to have management experience as you will manage and develop a team of coordinators responsible for the delivery of work related learning programmes; good written and spoken communication skills are also required as you will market BEST , as well as working collaboratively with other Local Authorities and formulating bids and initiatives to increase opportunities for income generation and to expand the opportunities for Work Related Learning and Enterprise across the Council.
