BEST is the Education Business Partnership for the London Borough of Wandsworth. Our aim is to improve the motivation and achievement of young people by working with businesses, schools and colleges.

This work helps to:

• Develop an understanding of the world of work and range of career options.
• Promote achievement, personal development and lifelong learning.
• Acquire skills for working in the 21st century.
• Raise the profile of businesses in the local community.

BEST acts as a broker between schools, businesses and community groups, initiating ideas and getting projects off the ground.

We also run a series of programmes which include:

• Work experience placements - giving students the opportunity to experience the world of work.
• Interview skills – an interactive workshop using both business volunteers and actors to help students develop and practice their interview skills.
• Enterprise activities and challenges - Linking up students with businesses, working on real business problems and challenges.
• E-Mentoring - Using the power of the email to support and encourage students and share experiences.
• Live Interactive forums - enabling a whole class to link up to a business, via the internet, to discuss various topics.
• Professional development placements for teachers - arranging for teachers to spend some time in different business environments

We have an excellent track record in working with local businesses and understanding their needs through our BEST team (Business and Education Succeeding Together) which provides businesses with links to schools and colleges.
