Wandsworth Learning Bus

The bus is equipped with a flexible mobile classroom offering courses ranging from basic IT and digital photography, to interior design and Indian head massage. The Bus was funded by the Department of Business Innovation and Skills’ Transformation Fund and aims to encourage 2000 learners to ’get on board’ with learning. Wandsworth regeneration spokesman, James Cousins, said: "This is a fantastic way to help more residents access the wide range of education and training we offer through our Lifelong Learning Service."
Workshops that have taken place on the bus include:

Digital Photography: lots of tips and information.You can even borrow a camera to use for the session and get 5 free prints of your work to take home with you.
Hair braiding and weaving: some of the latest techniques and tips to create beautiful hairstyles.
Indian head massage: learn the basic techniques of this ancient therapy and provide wonderful relaxation for friends and family.
Improve your use of the internet: for shopping online, researching your family, Ebay, listening to podcasts, social networking, downloading music and documents, using webmail and much more.
Basic Microsoft Office skills: learn how to write letters and other documents using Microsoft Word and set up a simple spreadsheet to keep track of your income and spending using Microsoft Excel.
Essential DIY: house maintenance tips and 4 things you have always wanted to know how to do yourself: change a washer, put on door handle, make a door draught proof and change a plug.
Basic PC maintenance: is your PC or laptop running more and more slowly? Does it take longer to start up when you switch it on? Find out about the simple maintenance you can do to help it run better and faster.
Manicure: an introduction to giving a professional manicure - you’ll be able to treat yourself and your friends!
Basic Jewellery making: use your own style and creativity to make beautiful things for yourself and gifts for friends and family.
Interior Design: plenty of bright ideas on how to make over a room on a tight budget just in time for spring.
Tax Self-Assessment Tips: how to keep your money in your pocket, not the tax man’s!
